Cenotes were also called “The fountain of youth” by the Spanish when they first found them. Chichen Itza
The Mayan city of Chichen Itza, was recently chosen as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. The announcement of Chichen Itza's selection by the New 7 Wonders Foundation was during a ceremony at Lisbon's Stadium of Light on July 7 2007. More than 100 million people from over 200 countries took part in the New 7 Wonders Foundation survey.

Translated from Mayan “where the sky is born”. It is the most protected area of the Mexican Caribbean, declared part of the program “The man in the Biosphere” at Unesco, and patrimony of Humanity. Known for its diversity of biological species of vegetation and animal (including 103 species of mammals such as jaguar, puma, ocelot, howling monkey, reptiles and 345 species of birds)
